Before Marzocchi and and the never ending list of aftermarket brands had upgrades available for these little bikes, we were swapping front ends off old XR75s, MR50s and KLX110s so we could jump the 50s a little higher and a little longer. We were grinding coil pickup mounts to advance timing. Shaving flywheels for a little more rev pickup, and milling aluminum brackets to adapt mountain bike downhill brake calipers to work with Polini disc brake wheels. It's not because we had to. It's just the nature of the beast. Racers will be racers, no bike is ever complete, and a racer is always looking for that little advantage.
