Described simply, the Desmo system uses the rocker arms to open and close the valves precisely, completely removing sloppy valve springs that tend to float at high rpm causing rapid power loss and premature engine wear. Short of pneumatic valve operation, you will not find a cylinder head that can reach full power sooner in the rpm range and keep it there longer.
